The Mason Community Players is the oldest continually operating community theater organization in Warren County, OH. Two years ago in 2021 the group found its forever home with the acquisition of the Mason Community Playhouse, located at 5529 Mason Rd. in Mason, OH. This year the group plans to celebrate 50 years of “play-ing around” with a year long jubilee celebration and five unique shows, which will highlight decades of entertainment.
The first show of the 50th Anniversary Season will be Puffs, produced by Lara Gonzalez and directed by Trisha Cooper. It is the story of an unlikely friendship between three students at a certain school of Magic and Magic. Audiences should “expecto parody” in this seven-year journey following a cast of unlikely characters. Performance dates will be March 10, 11, 17, 18 and 19 at 8:00 p.m. and there will be a Sunday matinee performance on March 12 at 2:00 p.m.
Following Puffs, the group will continue performing with The Dining Room in May, Company in July, Escanaba in da Moonlight in September and Gender Bender 5.0, a musical review in October, and November. Tickets are now available for all shows by leaving a message at 513-398-7804 or visiting the website, www.MasonPlayers.org.
Since its creation in 1973, the Mason Community Players has brought more than 120 productions and 30 original musical reviews to audiences in Mason, Ohio. More importantly, the group has become a family for the community, involving people of all ages on stage, backstage, and as spectators. “From our family to yours, we celebrate 50 years of making it possible for anyone to enjoy theater.”
