2014 Marks Record Year for Warren County Tourism
WARREN COUNTY, OH (March 13, 2015) – Warren County, Ohio welcomed a record number of tourism-related visitors in 2014, the Warren County Convention & Visitors Bureau (WCCVB) has announced.
According to attendance figures compiled by the WCCVB, the county’s numerous entertainment, shopping, dining, and lodging attractions accounted for more than 11.2 million visitors in 2014, surpassing a previous record of 8.3 million visitors set in 2013.
Phillip S. Smith, President & CEO of the WCCVB, credits the steep increase in visitation to the county’s growing reputation as both a convenient and affordable destination.
“Warren County is within a day’s drive of 60 percent of the U.S. population, has a rich variety of top-notch, yet reasonably priced hotels and bed and breakfasts, and boasts a multitude of unique events and attractions,” Smith said. “That, combined with the fact that our attractions appeal to a wide variety of age groups and traveler types, has been key to the success of Warren County as Ohio’s Largest Playground.”
Among the county’s most visited attractions in 2014 were Caesar Creek State Park, Kings Island, Miami Valley Gaming, the Ohio Sauerkraut Festival, and the Western & Southern Open.
According to the latest economic study conducted by the State of Ohio, total tourism spending in Warren County recently surpassed $1 billion for the first time in history. Tourism is also the county’s number one industry, accounting for one in every eight jobs or 12.7 percent of the workforce.
