Fourth Annual Warren County Tennis Tournament a Success

MASON, OH - September 18, 2013 - Warren County Sports welcomed 60 competitors to the annual Warren County Tennis Open September 13-15.

The USTA sanctioned event, which is owned and operated by Warren County Sports, a department of the Warren County Convention & Visitors Bureau (WCCVB), took place at the Lindner Family Tennis Center for its fourth year. The 2013 tournament saw a 58% increase in economic impact, and the number of participants nearly doubled. The event is open to USTA members, and competitors in this year's tournament ranged in age from 22 to 68 years old.

"This event gives the general public the unique opportunity to play where the pros play, in a professional facility," said Phil Smith, President & CEO of WCCVB. "It's an opportunity that doesn't happen any other time of year, and it's an exciting thing for local and regional tennis players."

Warren County Sports/WCCVB holds several events per year at the Lindner Family Tennis Center and hopes to use that partnership to attract additional events, including an NCAA tournament.

"The Warren County Tennis Open is just one of the events we host with the Lindner Family Tennis Center during the year," said Ben Huffman, Director of Sports Marketing at WCCVB. "In the spring we host multiple college tennis events including the Ohio Athletic Conference and Atlantic 10 Championships."

This year, the Warren County Convention & Visitors Bureau expects to host a total of 80 sporting events which are expected to produce more than 54,000 room nights in local hotels. Last year it hosted 60 events, accounting for more than 53,000 room nights and more than $38 million in local economic impact.
