State Cornhole Championships to be held at Miami Valley Gaming
The American Cornhole Organization (ACO) will hold its Ohio State Championships of Cornhole at Miami Valley Gaming in Lebanon, Ohio on June 27 and 28, 2014. The one and a half day event includes both the ACO Singles and Doubles State Championships.
Warren County Sports, a department of the Warren County Convention & Visitors Bureau, is assisting with the event. Ben Huffman, Director of Sports Marketing says organizers expect 75 hotel nights and an economic impact of $35,000. Huffman added, ”We have been working with ACO for some time trying to find a good fit for their organization and Warren County. When Miami Valley Gaming opened, that fit was evident. We are very excited to host this prestigious state championship and look forward to working with ACO in the future.”
This event is a first of its kind for Miami Valley Gaming (MVG). Jeff Nelson, MVG’s Senior Director of Marketing said, “It’s always exciting to host a championship event. We are happy to be partnering with the American Cornhole Organization to bring this unique tournament to our grandstands in Lebanon.”
The projected event schedule for Friday, June 27 offers open courts from 5-11 pm for the public to enjoy free play. There will also be optional “Pay-as-You-Play” game challenges. Saturday’s schedule features the ACO Singles State Championship. This traditional, double elimination tournament can include up to 160 players from throughout the state of Ohio. Registration takes place from 8:30-9:30 am with play expected to begin at 10:00 am.
The ACO Doubles State Championship will include a maximum of 160 participating teams. It is also a traditional double elimination tournament. Registration takes place from 2:00-3:00 pm with play expected to start at 4:00 pm.
The event is free to spectators.
