Warren County Attractions, Festivals Aim to Draw Crowds in Fall Travel Season
MASON, OH (August 25, 2014) – As the fall travel season nears, Kings Island’s Halloween Haunt, the Ohio Renaissance Festival and other popular autumn attractions hope once again to draw considerable crowds to Southwest Ohio.
Halloween-themed attractions ranging from family-friendly to highly intense will open their doors in the coming weeks. Kings Island’s Halloween Haunt and Howl-O-Palooza will welcome guests Friday and Saturday nights beginning September 19, while Waynesville, Ohio—regarded as one of the nation’s most haunted villages—will host guided walking tours Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays throughout October.
The 2014 Ohio Renaissance Festival will run Saturdays and Sundays (as well as Labor Day) between August 30 and October 19 at Renaissance Park in Harveysburg, Ohio. Billed as a “day-long, non-stop adventure”, this year’s event will feature nearly 100 daily shows, 135 craft shops and renaissance-inspired food and drink.
Bonnybrook Farms in Clarksville, Ohio offers visitors 370 acres of “Fun on the Farm.” Fall Farm Days will feature themed wagon rides, pumpkin patches, corn mazes, pony rides and more, while lantern-lit wagon rides and haunted corn mazes will be offered on Friday and Saturday nights from September 26 through October 25.
Ozone Zipline Adventures, located in Oregonia, Ohio, is one of the largest zip line canopy tours in the Midwest. Its tours, which accommodate groups of up to 10, are designed to be both thrilling and educational, as tour guides share their knowledge of each course and unique facts about the region’s natural history. Open year-round, there are three tours offered for day zipping ranging from seven to eleven lines. Full moon night zipping is offered on select nights. Lines range in length from 250 to 1,300 feet. Heights of the lines vary from 10 to 200 feet.
Morrow, Ohio’s Valley Vineyards is an award-winning winery and micro-brewery which also offers indoor and outdoor weekend cookouts Friday and Saturday nights throughout the year, and on Sundays from July through December. Cookout guests grill their own steak or salmon to enjoy with side dishes, desserts and the vineyard’s locally produced adult beverages. A “Twilight Canoe & Dinner for Two” package, which includes a three-mile canoe trip down the Little Miami Scenic River and Vineyard cookout, will be available on select dates in September and October.
Fall Festivals account for a sizeable percentage of the county’s seasonal visitors. Lebanon’s Country AppleFest (Sept. 27) and Waynesville’s Ohio Sauerkraut Festival (Oct. 11-12) are among the region’s most popular food-themed gatherings, and are both free to the public.
