Warren County Celebrates National Travel & Tourism Week

WARREN COUNTY, OH (May 1, 2018) – In celebration of National Travel and Tourism Week, the Warren County Convention & Visitors Bureau (WCCVB) recognizes the tourism industry's social and economic impact at the county, state and national levels.

Celebrated each May, National Travel & Tourism Week serves to encourage recreational travel nationwide, highlighting its importance to the job market, as well as both economic and personal development. This year's celebration, which marks its 35th anniversary, will span from May 6-12.

According to the United States Travel Association (USTA), travel generates $2.4 trillion for the U.S. economy annually and is the nation’s second largest industry export. The travel industry is also America’s seventh largest employer, supporting 15.6 million jobs nationwide.

Locally, Warren County enjoyed record visitation in 2017, welcoming more than 12 million visitors, while generating $1.168 billion in visitor spending and supporting 12,244 tourism-related jobs according to the most recent study by Tourism Economics and Tourism Ohio. The county’s number one industry, tourism accounts for one in every nine jobs, or approximately 11 percent of its workforce.

“Tourism is an absolutely booming industry in the United States, and one that’s particularly impactful to us here in Warren County,” said Phillip S. Smith, President & CEO of the WCCVB. “Our unique array of easily accessible attractions, hotels, shops and restaurants has allowed us to thrive as a tourism destination over the years, and we’re looking forward to more record-breaking growth in the years ahead.”

In conjunction with National Travel & Tourism Week, the WCCVB will be hosting a "Zip & Sip Giveaway” on its Facebook page Monday, May 7 through Saturday, May 12. One randomly selected entrant will be awarded two passes to Ozone Zipline Adventures, a $100 gift certificate to Valley Vineyards Winery & Brewery and a one-night stay at The Golden Lamb Restaurant & Hotel.
