Warren County Convention & Visitors Bureau Achieves Destination Marketing Accreditation

MASON, OH – February 4, 2014 – Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI) has renewed its accreditation of the Warren County Convention & Visitors Bureau (WCCVB), the WCCVB announced today.

WCCVB earned its renewal by completing a year-long application process which included meeting rigorous standards of organizational, financial and marketing operations.

The accreditation means the WCCVB is operating at the highest standards of the destination marketing industry.

“We are very pleased to be recognized within the destination marketing community for providing outstanding services in accordance with international standards and benchmarks in our field,” said Phillip S. Smith, President & CEO of the WCCVB.

The accreditation program (officially named Destination Marketing Accreditation Program, or DMAP) was developed by DMAI, which is based in Washington DC. In earning the accreditation, destination marketing organizations (DMOs) communicate to their community, buyers and potential visitors that they have attained a significant measure of excellence in destination management and marketing.

DMAI’s membership includes more than 600 DMOs, but only 180 of those are accredited (30 percent). The WCCVB was the first DMO in Southwest Ohio to receive DMAP accreditation, doing so in 2008.

“By successfully renewing their accreditation, the Warren County CVB has maintained its commitment to quality programs and services,” said Jack Wert, DMAP Board Chair, and President & CEO of the Naples / Marco Island, Florida, DMO. “DMAP accreditation communicates to Warren County community stakeholders and potential visitors that the Warren County CVB has attained a measure of excellence assuring that their trust is well-placed and their business is in good hands.”

DMAP accreditation standards cover a wide variety of issues including governance, finance, management, human resources, technology, visitor services, group services, sales, communications, membership, brand management, destination development, research/market intelligence, innovation and stakeholder relationships.
