Warren County Outdoor Attractions Open for 2014 Travel Season
MASON, OH – May 19, 2014 –The Beach Waterpark, RiversEdge Canoe Livery and Outfitters and more outdoor attractions open in May for the 2014 travel season.
"With warm weather on the way, Warren County’s outdoor attractions are ready and waiting for the 2014 travel season,” said Phillip S. Smith, President & CEO at the Warren County Convention & Visitors Bureau (WCCVB). “Outdoor travelers are an audience that we want to reach, and with the outdoor attractions like The Beach waterpark, Ozone Zipline Adventures and the several canoe liveries along the Little Miami Scenic River, Warren County is an exciting option for those travelers.”
The Beach waterpark opens May 17 for its second season for new owners, Adventure Holdings LLC, based in Jacksonville, Fla. Two new rides will open this year at The Beach. The first, a two-person zipline, will feature a 600-foot drop over the wave pool. The second is a more than 400-foot long, four-lane mat racer ride where riders will float headfirst on a foam rubber mat with handles through twists and turns.
Kings Island’s Soak City Waterpark opens May 24 for daily use. Soak City is included in the price of park admission. Kings Island opened Friday, April 18, 2014. Banshee, the world’s longest inverted roller coaster, is the newest attraction at the Midwest’s largest amusement and waterpark. Banshee takes riders through 4,124 feet of track and seven stomach-churning inversions at up to 68 mph on a two-minute-40-second ride.
Canoe liveries along the Little Miami Scenic River in Warren County are now open for river trips. Rhett Rhorer, owner of RiversEdge Canoe Livery and Outfitters in Waynesville, said the canoe liveries are excited for the 2014 season.
“We’ve all just been ready and waiting for water and air temperatures to rise,” said Rhorer. “We’ve cleaned up any trees or debris from the winter and are now ready for visitors to get out on the river.”
Visitors interested in scheduling a canoe, kayak or rafting trip on the Little Miami Scenic River can contact RiversEdge, as well as Morgan’s Outdoor Adventures and Little Miami Canoe Rental, all located in Warren County. Information on current river conditions can be found on each company’s website.
For more outdoor adventure, Ozone Zipline Adventures is open year-round and located near the canoe liveries along the Little Miami Scenic River in Oregonia. Ozone offers multiple tour options with up to 11 ziplines. Visit CampKern.org/ozone for more information.
Caesar Creek State Park is another outdoor adventure option. Visitors can participate in boating, fishing and swimming activities at the lake, as well as hiking the wooded trails, fossil hunting around the lake, and camping.
