Warren County Prepares to Host State Tennis Championships
Mason, OH (May 12, 2016) – Warren County will welcome hundreds of high school tennis players and spectators this month when it plays host to the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s 2016 Boys Tennis State Championships.
The tournament, scheduled to take place May 27-28, will be held at Mason’s Lindner Family Tennis Center—also home to one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious professional tennis tournaments, the Western & Southern Open.
“Southwest Ohio has long been home to world-class tennis, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to give these outstanding high school players a chance to continue that tradition on the very courts so many of their tennis idols have played on year after year,” said Phillip S. Smith, President & CEO of the Warren County Convention & Visitors Bureau (WCCVB).
This month’s tournament will feature the state’s top 16 boys’ high school singles players and doubles teams within Division I and Division II tennis.
Ben Huffman, Director of Sports Marketing for the WCCVB, estimates the tournament will generate an economic impact of around $150,000 for the area.
Warren County and the Lindner Family Tennis Center will also host the OHSAA Girls Tennis State Championships October 21-22.
Regarded as one of the world’s finest tennis facilities, the Lindner Family Tennis Center features four stadiums and 16 total courts, as well as additional amenities such as state-of-the-art locker rooms and training facilities.
