Warren County Prepares to Host State Tennis Championships
MASON, OH (September 29, 2015) – Warren County will welcome hundreds of high school tennis players and spectators this October when it plays host to the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s 2015 Girls Tennis State Championships.
The tournament, scheduled to take place October 16-17, will be held at Mason’s Lindner Family Tennis Center—also home to one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious professional tennis tournaments, the Western & Southern Open.
“We could not be more thrilled to welcome these outstanding athletes, their families, and all of their supporters to Warren County,” said Phillip S. Smith, President & CEO of the Warren County Convention & Visitors Bureau (WCCVB). "Southwest Ohio first welcomed world-class tennis players in 1899, and now the best high school players in the state will have a chance to play where the stars of the game have played – players such as Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova and Lindsay Davenport.”
Regarded as one of the world’s finest tennis facilities, the Lindner Family Tennis Center features four stadiums and 16 total courts, as well as additional amenities such as state-of-the-art locker rooms and training facilities.
"The venue is truly one of the most advanced in the world," said Will Sikes, a Lindner Family Tennis Center spokesperson. "To host events like these is truly an honor and fits right in line with our mission of promoting the game of tennis to all ages and skill levels—from high school standouts to the world's best players."
October’s tournament will feature the state’s top 16 girls’ high school singles players and doubles teams within Division I and Division II tennis.
Ben Huffman, Director of Sports Marketing for the WCCVB, estimates the tournament will generate an economic impact of around $100,000 for the area.Warren County and the Lindner Family Tennis Center will also host the OHSAA Boys Tennis State Championships in May, 2016.
