Warren County Sports Celebrating 10 Years of Economic Benefit
MASON, OH - October 14, 2013 - In the past 10 years, Warren County Sports has hosted 56 national championships, 438 total events in 40 different sports, and attracted 841,000 visitors who've generated more than $197 million for the local economy and booked 340,000 room nights in area hotels and bed & breakfasts.
Warren County Sports, a department of the Warren County Convention & Visitors Bureau (WCCVB), is closing out its first decade of existence by reviewing a record of significant growth in Warren County, Ohio.
"Our sports has been extremely successful in bringing visitors to Warren County through sporting events and tournaments over the past decade," said Phillip S. Smith, President & CEO of the Warren County Convention & Visitors Bureau. "We are very pleased with the growth in the number of tournaments and participants, and even more pleased with the economic impact Warren County sees from these events."
In its first year, Warren County Sports hosted 14 tournaments and generated an estimated $1.9 million in economic impact. By the end of this year, Warren County Sports will have hosted 88 tournaments and generated an estimated $34.8 million, attracting teams and players from 43 states and 11 different countries.
"Over the last 10 years, we have continued to build every year, and have built the program up to include a series of events we own and operate," said Ben Huffman, Director of Sports Marketing for the WCCVB. "We are proud of the progress that has been made, and we look forward to continuing to bring visiting teams and their families to Warren County."
