Warren County Sports to Host Six Events and More Than 17,000 Visitors for Memorial Day Weekend
MASON, OH – May19, 2014 – The economic impact from sports marketing in Warren County, Ohio over the 2014 Memorial Day weekend is expected to top $4.6 million. Warren County Sports, a department of the Warren County Convention & Visitors Bureau (WCCVB), will play host to six events from May 23 through May 26 including Mud, Guts & Glory’s May Event, the Nike Midwest Showdown, and the 2014 USA Ultimate Division I College Championship.
The events coming to the County represent a variety of sports, including basketball, obstacle course racing, Ultimate Frisbee, and baseball. The events and the area attract participants of all ages.“With the backdrop of Ohio's Largest Playground, we have a wide variety of attraction options for athletes aged five to 75 to enjoy while in Warren County,” said Ben Huffman, the WCCVB’s Director of Sports Marketing. Huffman adds, “This is never more evident than Memorial Day weekend, when we will be the home to four youth events, a college ultimate Frisbee event, and athletes of all ages tackling the obstacles at Mud, Guts, and Glory.”
In 2014, the WCCVB expects to host participants and spectators for more than 100 sporting events, which should produce more than 69,000 room nights in local hotels.
The sports marketing team has improved its economic impact to the Warren County area nearly every year since its inception in 2004.
