Warren County to Host 2014 USA Ultimate College Championships

MASON, OH - November 25, 2013 - USA Ultimate, the national governing body for the sport of Ultimate Frisbee in the United States, announced today that the Warren County Convention & Visitors Bureau (WCCVB) will host the 2014 Division I College Championships in Mason, Ohio, May 23-26.

The event will be held Friday through Monday at Heritage Oak Park and Mason High School, and will be held in conjunction with the Cincinnati Ultimate Players Association (CUPA).

Pool play and the initial rounds of bracket play in both Open and the Women's (only) divisions, will take place May 23-24 at Heritage Oak Park, with semifinal and final rounds to follow on Sunday afternoon and Monday (May 25-26) at the 6,800-seat Mason High School Atrium Stadium.

"We're really looking forward to working with the Warren County CVB and CUPA on this event," said Will Deaver, Managing Director of Competition and Athlete Programs for USA Ultimate. "Ohio, and especially Southwest Ohio, has vibrant and growing Ultimate communities, and based on our involvement working with CUPA and WCCVB in the past, we have a lot of confidence the event will be an incredible experience for participants and a great showcase for the sport."

ESPN will broadcast semifinal and final action in both divisions from the College Championships live on ESPN3 with follow-up coverage to air on ESPNU in the ensuing week.

"Warren County is proud to host the 2014 USA Ultimate College Championships, and we are excited to showcase Ultimate in Mason and to a national audience on ESPNU" said Ben Huffman, Director of Sports Marketing for the WCCVB. "We have had a great relationship with CUPA and USA Ultimate for the past six years. The events we have collaborated on have brought in more than $1 million in economic impact to our community."

Each year, the College Championships crown national champions in the Open and Women's divisions. After the conclusion of the regular season, more than 14,000 college athletes across more than 700 teams will enter the USA Ultimate Championship Series, all competing for a chance to be in the field of 20 men's and 20 women's teams at the College Championships on Memorial Day weekend.
