Warren County to Host Obstacle Course Racing World Championships
MASON, OH (October 14, 2015) – Warren County, Ohio, will welcome more than 1,800 athletes from around the world this weekend, as it plays host to the 2015 Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) World Championships.
The event, scheduled to take place at Oregonia’s Kings Domain October 17-18, will feature competitors from 22 different nations, including countries as distant as Australia. This year’s athletes, ages 14 to 50+, will race through a newly renovated 10-mile course, featuring approximately 70 unique obstacles.
“We’re extremely excited to welcome the world of obstacle racing back to Warren County for another thrilling year,” said Kevin Jones, Community Manager for the OCR World Championships. “This year’s event will feature a number of last year’s top finishers, as well as a great group of newcomers, so we anticipate a pretty heated competition. It’s going to be a lot of fun for the racers and onlookers alike.”
Ben Huffman, Director of Sports Marketing for the Warren County Convention & Visitors Bureau (WCCVB), estimates the event will also draw an estimated 1,400 spectators, spurring an estimated $750,000 economic impact for the community.“This is always one of the most unique and most globally diverse sporting events we have the pleasure of hosting in Warren County, so we fully expect a terrific weekend and an exceptional turnout,” Huffman said.The championship’s individual races will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday morning, while its team competition is set for 9 a.m. Sunday.
The event is free to spectators.
